About the competition

Here begins
the script's story

Now in its fourth edition, the Playwriting Competition, organized by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, opens its doors once again to every writer with a script worthy of being read and staged—celebrating the written word and turning an idea into a new beginning. Scripts that meet the requirements are reviewed by specialized judging panels, competing for three prizes in each of the competition's three tracks, making the competition a meeting point where writers connect with those who value their work and give it the opportunity it deserves.

Frequently asked questions

May I enter more than one track?

Yes. You may enter more than one of the tracks announced for this edition of the competition.

Who is the fourth edition open to?

Anyone with an interest in writing for the theatre may enter, in line with the competition's general conditions.

Is there a set method for assessing entries?

Yes. Entries are assessed against five criteria set by a specialist jury: the central idea, the characters, the plot and dramatic structure, the language and dialogue, and compliance with the track's own conditions.

How do I enter my script?

You can participate by completing the application form with the required information during the specified submission period.

When are the winners announced?

The winners of the fourth edition of the Playwriting Competition will be announced in November 2026.

Can I enter a handwritten script?

No. Every entry must be typed and submitted as a PDF, set in Arabic Arial at 12 pt; no other format is accepted.

Why do I upload the script once with my name and once without it?

The copy carrying your name stays with the competition's administration as the record that the script is yours; the unnamed copy is the only one the jury sees, so the assessment stays anonymous and fair. Keep the text identical in both files, and make sure the unnamed copy holds nothing that gives your identity away.

What if the verification code never reaches my email?

Check your spam folder first, and make sure your email address is spelled correctly. Then wait for the resend timer to run out and press «Resend code». If it still does not arrive, write to us through the contact page and we will help you finish signing up.
